Hahn Meritage 2009, California
Winemaker Notes -
Bordeaux-style blend expresses a broad cherry core, moderate grainy tannins and superb length. A lengthy growing season for this vintage produced dark-colored grapes with slightly lower acid, resulting in fat flavors with distinct Merlot characteristics and pleasant notes of cherry, currant and dried herbs with a hint of cedar on the nose. On the palate, the wine begins with various red fruits that transition toward blueberry and plum. Then an ethereal wisp of thyme is woven in with the delicate spice of French oak, while moderate tannins carry the flavors into a lengthy finish
