Casanova Di Neri Rosso, 2008 Italy
Castle Rock Pinot Noir ‘Columbia Valley' 2009
Produced from grapes grown in Washington State's Columbia Valley. Here, vineyards lie in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains and receive an average of just 6-8 inches of rainfall annually. Because of the northerly latitude and a thoroughly continental climate (with dramatic temperature swings between day and night), these eastern Washington vineyards produce wines that show excellent structure. This Pinot Noir is elegant and medium bodied, with aromas of herbal spice and cherry. On the palate the wine gives flavors of blackberry, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla oak, and it finishes long and harmoniously.
