Ash Hollow Reserve Malbec, 2007, Walla Walla, Washington

Winemakers notes;
This 2007 Estate Malbec marks a new tradition for us. Having a very unique hue of dark red and purple, and a thickness you could almost stick a fork in, this wine has scents of rose, huckleberries & dark boysenberry that seem to swirl together and jump out of the glass. Deep dark fruits, dried fig, tar, and spice yield way to let a certain chocolate sweetness in at just the right time. We blended a little Estate Petit Verdot in just for good measure which offers up that candied caramel in the mid-palate. Velvety smooth silk; this is truly an Ash Hollow classic, evolving with each glass and only getting better with time.

These Estate Malbec grapes were hand harvested on October 25, 2007 from our Bella Terra Vineyard. The Estate Petit Verdot was hand picked from the same vineyard on October 28, 2007. Both wines were fermented separately and aged in 100% French Oak barrels for 16 months, then blended together and bottled two months later. Extended fermentation was used on the Malbec lot to develop color and structure.
