"Tempranillo seems to be gaining a toehold in eastern Washington and there now is sufficient evidence that it can turn out well when farmed correctly and made by talented people. Gramercy’s offering, the 2009 Tempranillo Inigo Montoya is one of the better ones. Exotic spices, tobacco, truffle, violets, and blackberry aromas inform the nose of a savory, elegant, nicely proportioned, intensely flavored wine. This lengthy effort has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years and will deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2024."
