Chateau Douley Premieres Cote du Bordeaux 2006, France
Chateau Douley is a project created by Chateau Lagarosse in the Premier Cotes de Bordeaux. Originally built in the 17th century, Château Lagarosse is located in the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, where centuries ago, the Romans first grew vines in Bordeaux.
Made by Michel Rolland, Chateau Douley is a juicy little Premières Côtes de Bordeaux with a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine goes through 15 days of maceration with frequent pumping over, to extract the best character and color. Fermentation is by grape variety and plot origin and takes place in temperature controlled tanks. Quite the process for the fare, then 2/3 of the wine matures in one-year oak barrels; the remaining is drawn from small stainless steel tanks. The result is an expansive, sweet, mineral-laced black cherry and cassis fruit wine with a fragrant, medium to full-bodied personality, and outstanding ripeness, delineation, and purity.
