Rio Madre Graciano Rioja 2016

90 points, Vinous:

"(fermented in small stainless steel tanks and aged for six months in used French oak barriques) Youthful purple. Perfumed black and blue fruit, licorice and pipe tobacco aromas show very good clarity and pick up a suggestion of candied licorice with air. Broad, appealingly sweet and sappy on the palate, offering juicy blackberry and cherry flavors that are lifted by a spine of tangy acidity. Dusty, slow-building tannins lend shape and grip to the finish, which lingers with strong, spice-driven tenacity."

90 points, Jeb Dunnuck:

“Made from 100% Graciano aged in neutral oak, the 2016 Rio Madre offers a ripe bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, dried flowers, leather, and damp earth. Rich and nicely concentrated, it's medium-bodied, well-balanced, and has a solid, layered texture as well as a great finish. It blossoms with time in the glass, has plenty of fruit and character, and is a rock-solid value.”
